Facebook parties are all the rage these days- any given week it seems like you can attend a party for any type of product you wish. It is the preferred method of delivery for people like me- young kids at home, busy and can’t always commit to the “in home experience”.
Generally- the rules for a Facebook party are as follows:
Invitations- depending on your perspective this can range from a mass Facebook invite (which I don’t personally recommend) or the hostess going person to person extending invitations. You may be wondering why I don’t recommend the mass Facebook invite- it can be a one-way ticket to the NFL (no friends left) club. These days it seems like we have more Facebook invites than we have time to respond to and you may find your party goals don’t get met when you don’t take the time to let people know what you’re doing and that you want them to come. TRUST ME: a personal invite goes a LONG way.
Time duration- this is where it can get tricky. Some people have had great results with the 2 week-long Facebook party others like the Tag Team have made their mark in direct sales with a 30 minute Facebook party. Duration really is key because this will determine how many posts you need and how quickly you will schedule them.
The first time I held a Facebook party, the other hostesses and myself used a script and posted every 3 minutes. For a busy mom, this can be SUPER tricky and stressful. I did this party with my kids asking for snacks, fighting, and through a diaper change. Doing that while also being mindful of the time (to make sure you don’t miss a post) was super stressful and I didn’t feel like I got to be actively engaged with the guests like I had hoped.
